It's a virus blitz!

Too busy?

Of course, I can do this for you. Check my anti-virus service under Services

How to get rid of viruses.

If your computer is running slow, your applications (like Word) won't start or there is any kind of strange unpredictable behaviour on your PC, you are likely to have been the victim of either a virus or a trojan horse.

I'm assuming you have some kind of anti-virus software - if not, or for some reason it isn't working, then go to AVG Free Anti-Virus Software, download and install. Although free, it's one of the best and most reliable anti-virus kits for the PC-owner.

Next, if your PC operating system is either Windows 2000 or XP go to this link at the Tom Coyote Forums and follow the instructions.

If your PC operating system is either Windows 95, 98 or Me go to this link and follow the instructions.

Lastly, to make sure you are secure against further attack read this link at the Tom Coyote Forums and follow the instructions.

These guys have been helping people clean-up and defend their PCs (for free) for a few years now. They will advise you to download and install SpyBot and Ad-Aware among other programs. (Remember to save the logfiles that these programs produce for posting on the Tom Coyote forum for analysis.) I can recommend this forum, but I can take no responsibility for the results of your attempts at self-help. All I can say is that many have followed their advice with success.

A note on System Restore when you are clean.

One of the best features of Windows XP and Me is the System Restore option, however if virus/trojan infects a computer with this operating system the virus/trojan can be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal. Only if all problems seem to be resolved, I recommend the following.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
